Our Mission
Our mission is to end Food Insecurity for the Underserved. We serve the people that can’t get to the food banks or other sources of support that they so desperately need. We are committed to serving and treating the Underserved with the dignity and respect they deserve. We respect and protect the privacy of the Underserved and are committed to serving them in a way that preserves their dignity and self-worth. We ask for help because the Underserved should never have to.
Who We Are
We are a husband and wife team of caregivers. We have a Licensed In-Home Childcare Facility (SecondHomeChildcare.com) in Burien Washington and we have been caregivers for over twenty years. In 2014 we started to do some volunteer work in our community. We learned a lot about the people and needs of our community and beyond. We came to the conclusion that Food Insecurity is all around us. Food Insecurity that has no cultural, political or spiritual boundaries. So, after brainstorming on how we might help to efficiently and effectively alleviate some of that food insecurity we decided to start our own Outreach.
We started Selfless Outreach in 2017. We are a nonprofit Mobile Food Bank with 501(c)(3) status. We are an independent Outreach and we do not receive any state or federal funding. We rely on our own personal income and fundraising efforts. All of our resources, supplies and funding comes from our childcare business and the selfless donations from community leaders and individuals. We also would not exist without the enormous generosity of the companies and organizations that have contributed to our mission over the years. We are extremely grateful to them for making it possible for us to serve the Underserved.
What We Do
We deliver free food and free basic living supplies to the Underserved. We serve the people that can’t get to the food banks or other sources of support that they so desperately need. We serve Seniors with Limited Mobility, Individuals with Disabilities, Veterans, Transitional Housing and the Homeless. Every month we serve hundreds of homes and individuals. We serve and treat the Underserved with the dignity and respect they deserve. We are passionate about what we do and are determined to end Food Insecurity for the Underserved. We are an Independent Outreach so that we may serve the Underserved without any additional or hidden message or agenda. Our message is clear. We will conquer Food Insecurity for the Underserved. We ask for help because the Underserved should never have to.
